Police in Kitale are looking for a woman who killed and buried her child in a neighbour’s farm before disappearing.
Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Ayub Gitonga said the 22-year old woman disappeared from her Kisawai home in Saboti Sub County after committing the heinous act.
The neighbour, Ben Ndiwa, alerted members of the public and the husband to the fugitive, Ronald Korir, positively identified the child as his, whose body was retrieved from a shallow grave, according to Gitonga.
Ndiwa told the police that his wife, Milka Chesang, while tending to vegetables on their farm on Sunday came across freshly dug soil and became suspicious.
Chesang informed Ndiwa who alerted neighbours, and on digging they came across a carton which upon opening revealed the body of a baby girl wrapped in a towel.
Korir told police that he had a domestic quarrel with the wife but did not know that it could lead her to kill their child.
The body of the infant was taken to Kitale County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
Gitonga asked members of the public to find amicable ways of solving their domestic problems.
